We have all seen and heard in the media numerous stories of verbal and physical attacks at youth games. Flagler Bull Sharks does not want to see any violent or profane occurrences on our fields. Any negative parental behavior may possibly penalize a team for their unacceptable behavior. Parents may also be penalized . This which may include banning them from practices and games. In some rare cases, it may be necessary to prohibit participation of a child in our league due to repeated instances of inappropriate actions or words by a parent, guardian or family member. Several states have enacted laws that elevate any act of violence at a youth sports event to felony level. On the one hand, it’s encouraging that laws can help protect our volunteers, but, on the other hand, it’s extremely disturbing that those laws are necessary.
As a Board of Directors, we want all of you to be proactive in dealing with this inflammatory and potentially dangerous issue. Let us all make our best efforts to allow the children to have fun without rude or intimidating interruptions from parents and adults. At the minimum, unacceptable behavior includes profanity, obscene gestures, verbal threats and physically threatening action.
We expect the following from every family member on the field:
To encourage all of the children without negativity.
To cheer the kids on even when they make mistakes, we all make mistakes. NEXT PLAY!
We ask that you do not cheer when a player in the opposing team makes a mistake.
Avoid coaching from the sidelines.
Do not criticize or talk to the referee's. This is to be left to the coaches and field supervisors.
Refrain from interacting with the opposing fans during the game.
Save any issues you may have with the coaching staff for the next practice. Please do not approach the coaching staff during or after the game.
If there are any issues you may have with the coaches, please contact us directly so that we can address this accordingly.
Understand that you are a role model for your children. They will follow your behavior.
There will be designated areas for smoking. We ask that you please refrain from smoking on the sidelines, near our pavilion, near concessions or near areas where players are warming up for their games.
There are 3 league directors and 5 league supervisors. Our league directors will be wearing a bright coral colored league shirt. Our supervisors will be wearing a silver league shirt. Volunteers will be in white league shirts. Please bring any issues you may have to our coral and silver staff. We may not all always be on the field but please understand that we are all equally capable of handling any situation that may arise.
